Design/Build/Operate
A single contract is awarded to American Water for the design, construction and operation of your new or expanded water and/or wastewater facility. Click here to read more or view our case studies.

Contract Operations, Maintenance and Financing
Your city contracts the day-to-day management, operation and maintenance responsibility to American Water- in whole or in part- of your water and/or wastewater utility under a fee arrangement. Concessions
American Water, possibly together with third party investors, would form a separate legal entity (the “Concessionaire”) which would be established to contract with your city to lease and operate your water and/or wastewater system. Depending on your goals, an upfront payment may be provided from the concessionaire to your city in return for the resulting lease. Click here to read more .

Private Ownership (Asset Acquisition)
American Water owns and operates your water and/or wastewater system, subject to economic regulation by the state Public Utility Commissions. Click here to read more.
