West Virginia American Water working to fix main break in Huntington
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (June 26, 2009) – West Virginia American Water crews are working to fix a water main break that has affected the city of Huntington.
The break, which occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday, is on a large transmission main near the company’s Huntington Water Treatment Plant on 24th Street.
A precautionary boil water advisory has been issued for all Huntington customers who have experienced a loss of water service or low water pressure. West Virginia American Water is monitoring the situation and if the boil water advisory needs to be expanded to areas outside of Huntington, the necessary steps will be taken.
After water service is restored, affected customers are advised to boil their water until further notice. It is also possible that some customers may experience discolored water for a short period after service resumes.
Crews are on the scene, working diligently to restore service as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.
