Welcome to California American Water
California American Water is your local water and wastewater company.
Our lives revolve around water. It’s involved in everything thing we do, everything we use. We are experts in water and wastewater treatment and delivery.
In California, we serve about 630,000 people in 50 communities in service areas in the Northern, Central and Southern parts of the state. We supply high-quality water and treating and safely release wastewater. We abide by regulations, invest in our vast infrastructure, develop industry innovations, educate our customers on wise water use, and help out where we can in our cities and towns.
In California, the California Public Utilities Commission set rules and we carefully follow them. Those regulations are what help to ensure everyone is receiving high quality water and wastewater service at a fair price. All increases in service rates are directly related to the cost of providing high quality service and are subjected to a public review process and approval by the California Public Utilities Commission.
In addition, California American Water follows strict regulations created by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) that help to provide high quality drinking water. Because we work in cooperation with the USEPA, to help in the development of national drinking water standards, we are often years ahead of the industry in implementing regulations.
California American Water is committed to delivering high quality water to all of our customers. In California, we conduct about 47,000 tests per year for about 100 potential contaminants, checking drinking water quality at every stage of the water treatment and delivery process.
We serve customers in the Sacramento Area, Larkfield (Sonoma County), the Monterey Peninsula, Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park and Camarillo (Ventura County), Bradbury, Duarte and San Marino and portions of El Monte, Irwindale, Monrovia, Rosemead, San Gabriel, Temple City as well as unincoporated portions of Los Angeles County and the Baldwin Hills area (Los Angeles County) and Coronado, Imperial Beach and parts of San Diego (San Diego County).
