Welcome to Hawaii American WaterHawaii American Water is your local wastewater company. Our lives revolve around water. It’s somehow involved in everything thing we do, everything we use. We are experts in water delivery and wastewater treatment. In Hawaii, we treat wastewater and release it safely for more than 35,000 people in Hawaii Kai and on the island of Oahu, along the Kona Coast, Kohala and Hawaii Island. We abide by regulations, invest in our vast infrastructure and help out where we can in the communities we serve. On Oahu, Hawaii American Water’s collection system consists of more than 65 miles of sewer lines and seven pump stations. The system serves the community of Hawaii Kai on Oahu, an area extending from the eastern ridge of Kuliouou Valley to the Mauka side of Kalanianaole highway at Sandy Beach, up to and including the Hawaii Kai Golf Course. The Company’s East Honolulu Water Treatment Plant provides tertiary treatment to an average daily wastewater flow of 4.5 million gallons. The wastewater received is primarily domestic with a small component of commercial waste, largely from restaurants. The treated effluent is disinfected before it is discharged through an ocean outfall which extends one quarter mile offshore at a depth of 55 feet. On Hawaii Island, our Kalahuipua’a Lagoons Facility serves the Mauna Lani Resort area on the Kohala Coast. The non-regulated contract operation at Kaupulehu in historic Hualalai serves the Four Seasons Hotel complex and is located on the Kona Coast.
White sand beaches and pristine coral reefs are the hallmarks of the Hawaiian coastline that attract people from all over the world. Our customers in Hawaii rely on our professionals every day to be at the forefront of technology that keeps our environment safe. Our technologically-advanced treatment plant processes millions of gallons of wastewater each day, all of which is thoroughly tested before being discharged. These efforts demonstrate Hawaii American Water's care and commitment to our customers, the communities we serve, and the environment. |
