Illinois American Water Files Rate RequestOn May 29, 2009, Illinois American Water filed an application with the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) to adjust rates for water and wastewater service in all of the company's operating districts. Illinois American Water's ongoing and planned infrastructure investments, rising costs related to the economic factors impacting the country, and the routine costs of delivering high-quality, reliable service to customers are the main drivers behind the rate request. Our rates are based on the true costs of providing water service, as reviewed by the ICC. We work to operate efficiently and control operating expenses. The company's goal is to balance that objective with the continuous need for significant capital investment to meet increasing state and federal requirements. If the new rates are approved as requested, it will generate $58.6 million in additional revenue for the company.
