Earth Day Art ContestWater is one of the earth’s precious natural resources. Protecting our environment, watersheds and water sources is important to ensuring high-quality water service today and in the future. A large part of Illinois America Water’s environmental efforts focus on education about water protection and conservation. To continue to increase awareness, we need your help! Illinois American Water is inviting 4th grade classrooms located in our service areas to participate in an Earth Day art contest. The purpose of this contest is to raise awareness to students about the value of water service and assist classrooms in learning about water conservation and protection. The winning student(s) and their drawing(s) will be featured on a future environmental stewardship bill insert sent to customers in your service area. The winning class(es) will also receive a pizza party along with a visit from our water quality team during the month of April, in conjunction with Earth Day. Participation is easy! Print this flyer. Make as many copies as you need and distribute to your students, asking them to draw a picture and write one sentence that describes why it is important to conserve and/or protect our water. All completed entries need to be sent to Karen Cotton, external affairs manager, at 123 S.W. Washington Street, Peoria, Illinois 61602, by March 7, 2012. Once all entries are received, the winner(s) will be selected with guidance from Illinois American Water's environmental compliance and water quality team.
