REMINDER FOR FORMER APPLIED WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT AND JENSENS DEEP RUN WASTEWATER RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS WHO WERE CONVERTED FROM A FLAT MONTHLY AMOUNT TO ONE BASED PARTIALLY ON VOLUMETRIC: In June 2012, we changed the way the wastewater portion of your bill was calculated from a flat monthly amount to one that is based partially on the amount of water you use. To help you adjust to this new structure, we implemented a temporary cap on the volumetric charge portion of your wastewater bill. The cap was set at 6,000 gallons from June through December 2012. Starting January 2013, the cap was raised to 13,000 gallons per month.
Purchased Water Adjustment Clause (PWAC) and Purchased Wastewater Treatment Adjustment Clause (PSTAC)
On November 7, 2014, New Jersey American Water filed a request with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) for a change in its Purchased Water Adjustment Clause (PWAC) and Purchased Wastewater Treatment Adjustment Clause (PSTAC) charges. The proposed change in rates is to cover the changing fees New Jersey American Water pays to other water and wastewater purveyors for purchased water and wastewater treatment. Distribution System Improvement Charge
New Jersey American Water submitted its second DSIC filing to the NJ Board of Public Utilities on November 15, 2013. DSIC is a proven regulatory tool that allows for modest surcharges outside of the general rate proceeding for approved and completed rehabilitation and replacement of aging infrastructure, while maintaining BPU oversight and review. Rate Change Approved by the NJ Board of Public Utilities
On May 1, 2012, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities(BPU) approved new water and wastewater rates for New Jersey American Water, effective immediately. Even with the increase, one gallon of New Jersey American Water costs less than a penny. The need for the rate change was driven largely by the more than $300 million the company invested in its treatment and distribution facilities to continue to provide high-quality, reliable water and wastewater service. For the average residential customer using 6,500 gallons per month, this would mean an increase of between $2.15 and $3.93 a month, with the majority of our customers receiving a monthly increase of only $2.15.
