New Jersey Payment Assistance

Sometimes customers face circumstances that stretch their financial resources. New Jersey American Water is here to assist. Our customer service representatives will work with you on a plan to pay the balance of the bill over time. You may also be qualified to receive assistance through our Low Income Payment Program and H2O Help to Others Program™.

Payment Arrangements

If you cannot pay your bill by the due date, please contact our customer service center immediately, before the due date. Our customer service representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They will work with you to determine payment plan options that may be available.

  •       For customers whose accounts begin with 18, call 1.800.652.6987 (1.800.NJ.AM WTR)
  •       For customers whose accounts begin with 52 and 53, call 1.800.272.1325

H2O Help to Others Program™

For more than eight years, New Jersey American Water has been assisting low-income customers who qualify through its H2O Help to Others Program™. Customers who qualify may receive a grant of up to $500 to help pay their water bill and a discount on their monthly fixed service charge. The Low Income Payment Program and the H2O Help to Others Program™ are administered by NJ Shares, which is an independent, non-profit organization established to help those in need pay their utility bills. For more information, click here or contact our H2O Help to Others Program™ administrator, New Jersey SHARES, toll-free at 1-877-652-9426 (1-877-NJAWH2O).
