Sometimes customers face circumstances that stretch their financial resources. Pennsylvania American Water is here to assist. Our customer service representatives will work with you on a plan to pay the balance of your bill over time. You might also be qualified to receive assistance through our H2O Help to Others Program™.

H20 Help to Others Program

For more than 25 years, Pennsylvania American Water has been assisting low-income customers. Our H2O Help to Others program provides three services for qualified water customers:

• One-time grants of up to $500 to be used toward a household’s water bill

• A 65 percent discount on the monthly service fee (this is separate from the volumetric charge)

• Water-saving devices and education

In 2010, Pennsylvania American Water provided $327,000 in assistance grants to help customers pay their water bill. Grants are funded through a corporate match, customer contributions, employee donations and other fundraising activities. As of 2010, Pennsylvania American Water increased its corporate match to $250,000 per year.

How You Can Help

Those who wish to contribute to the H2O Help to Others Program can do so by adding a donation to their monthly Pennsylvania American Water bill payment. Donations can be made as a one-time gift or as a monthly donation of $1, $3 or $5.

You can be assured that 100 percent of your donation and our matching funds go directly to qualifying customers. Our company assumes all administrative costs for this program so that every penny you donate goes directly to this worthwhile cause.

Service Fee Discount

To qualify for the service fee discount, customers must have an annual income at or below 150 percent of the Federal Poverty guidelines provided in the chart below. Water-Saving Devices and Education on Wise Water Use

Pennsylvania American Water customers who qualify for the H2O Help to Others Program™ can also qualify to receive a water-saving kit, which includes a low-flow shower head, faucet aerators, plumbing tape and toilet tummy. Also included is an educational booklet that explains how to install the devices and provides helpful tips on how to save water inside and outside the home, so that customers can take an active part in reducing their water bill through wise water usage.

Assistance for Wastewater Customers of Pennsylvania American Water

Qualified customers can receive:

• One-time grant of up to $500 to be used toward the household wastewater bill, per year.

• 15-percent discount on the total monthly wastewater billing, per year.

Payment Arrangements

If you cannot pay your bill by the due date, please contact our customer service center immediately, before the due date. Our customer service representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-565-7292. They will work with you to determine payment plan options that may be available.
