Low Income ProgramSometimes customers face circumstances that stretch their financial resources. Pennsylvania American Water is here to assist. Our customer service representatives will work with you on a plan to pay the balance of your bill over time. You might also be qualified to receive assistance through our H2O Help to Others Program™. H20 Help to Others Program For more than 25 years, Pennsylvania American Water has been assisting low-income customers. Our H2O Help to Others program provides three services for qualified water customers:
In 2010, Pennsylvania American Water provided $327,000 in assistance grants to help customers pay their water bill. Grants are funded through a corporate match, customer contributions, employee donations and other fundraising activities. As of 2010, Pennsylvania American Water increased its corporate match to $250,000 per year. How You Can Help Those who wish to contribute to the H2O Help to Others Program can do so by adding a donation to their monthly Pennsylvania American Water bill payment. Donations can be made as a one-time gift or as a monthly donation of $1, $3 or $5. You can be assured that 100 percent of your donation and our matching funds go directly to qualifying customers. Our company assumes all administrative costs for this program so that every penny you donate goes directly to this worthwhile cause. Service Fee Discount To qualify for the service fee discount, customers must have an annual income at or below 150 percent of the Federal Poverty guidelines provided in the chart below. Water-Saving Devices and Education on Wise Water Use Pennsylvania American Water customers who qualify for the H2O Help to Others Program™ can also qualify to receive a water-saving kit, which includes a low-flow shower head, faucet aerators, plumbing tape and toilet tummy. Also included is an educational booklet that explains how to install the devices and provides helpful tips on how to save water inside and outside the home, so that customers can take an active part in reducing their water bill through wise water usage.
