Service Line Protection Programs Are Not Readily Available to Burlington Homeowners

The City recognized that its residents needed a program to protect them from the high costs of water and sewer line repairs, which are often not covered by homeowners’ insurance plans. Because such plans were not readily available to Burlington homeowners, the City sought a solution to help protect its residents. The LineSaver Program is an optional program that provides a valuable service to homeowners.

City of Burlington Supports American Water Resources

Shared service lines are covered under the Program when all parties sharing the line are enrolled in the Program

Although service lines shared with parties who are not enrolled in a LineSaver Service Line Protection Program are excluded from the Program, it is AWR’s practice to honor a repair in the shared portion of a line if AWR’s contractor discovers that the customer has a shared line (i.e. the customer did not know that he/she had a shared line until AWR’s contractor investigated). However, because shared lines are ineligible for the Program, AWR will cancel the customer after the repair is completed unless all other parties that share the line enroll in the Program.
