Tennessee American Water Seasonal Taste or Odor Change

Customers in Tennessee American Water’s service area may be experiencing taste or odor issues with their drinking water.  Neither issue poses a health concern, and the situation is temporary.  The issue is due to seasonal changes in the Tennessee River source water caused by hot, dry conditions. We have adjusted treatment at the plant to mitigate this. Please be assured that we are continuously monitoring your drinking water supply to ensure we continue to meet EPA and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation water quality guidelines. The treatment adjustments made at the plant could take a few days to take effect and see a difference with these issues.  We appreciate your patience as we work to correct this.
