FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are my rates changing as a result of this acquisition?
No. As part of the sale agreement, we have adopted Corner Water’s current water rates.
NOTE: All other fees for our newly acquired customers will be in accordance with the Pennsylvania American Water tariff approved by the PUC.
As Pennsylvania American Water is regulated by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, any future proposed changes in rates will be subject to extensive governmental review and approval. To learn more, visit pennsylvaniaamwater.com/rates.
Will I continue to be billed monthly for water service?
No. We’ll be transitioning you to monthly billing. This is preferred by many customers, because receiving 12 smaller bills instead of four larger ones makes it easier to include these costs in monthly household budgets.
How will the transition to monthly billing happen?
Yes. You will continue to be billed monthly for water service. NOTE: If you are a wastewater customer of ours, we will include your water and wastewater service charges on one bill.
Here’s how the billing transition will work: Between November 18 and 20, Corner Water obtained their final meter reading, which will also serve as the first meter reading for Pennsylvania American Water. Going forward, your monthly meter reading will be adjusted to occur on or about the 19th of each month. As a result, you’ll receive your first bill from Pennsylvania American Water in December 2025, covering water service charges from the November reading through the December reading. If you are currently a wastewater customer of ours, we will include your water and wastewater service charges on one bill. Due to the adjusted meter reading schedule your wastewater bill may be higher than usual, because it will include charges from the date your meter was last read for wastewater service (11/4/2025) through the December meter reading. Beginning in January, you will be billed on a regular monthly cycle.
Must I replace my meter?
Yes. As part of our commitment to improving your water system, we plan to replace all water meters by the end of the year. This will help to ensure billing accuracy and reduce the need for estimated bills. Plus, once installed, you will no longer need to provide your meter reading each month—saving you time and effort. Instead, we will install a device that will allow the meter to be read remotely. Our partner, Kentrel Corporation, will be in contact with you to schedule an appointment to replace our meter.
Will future rate changes have to undergo regulatory or governmental approvals?
Yes. Pennsylvania American Water is a regulated utility subject to governmental review and approval of any changes in rates. Water rates are regulated by the PUC. The process for any future changes in rates will be open, transparent and comply with all regulations. For more information about rates, visit pennsylvaniaamwater.com/rates.
