American Water CFO Susan Story Participates in Water Infrastructure Discussion with White House Council on Environmental Quality and Environmental Protection Agency

VOORHEES, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Water Works Company, Inc. (NYSE: AWK), the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced its senior vice president and chief financial officer, Susan Story, took part in a discussion today regarding the nation’s water infrastructure with the White House Council on Environmental Quality and Environmental Protection Agency.

The discussion, which included water professionals from across the country, centered on “Financing the Water Infrastructure of the Future.”

Story discussed the need for increased awareness of water infrastructure and greater access to private capital. New financial tools are needed to help water providers nationwide repair and replace aging water and wastewater networks with modern, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure. As the nation’s water and wastewater infrastructure is in critical need of repair, it has become increasingly important for water utilities to gain access to private funds for financing upgrades to their pipes, pumps and plants.
