Illinois American Water Issues Boil Water Order for City of Farmington
Boil Water Order in effect beginning Thursday, April 1, at 3 p.m.
Farmington, Ill. (March 31, 2021) —Tomorrow, Illinois American Water will install a new high service pump at the Farmington Water Treatment Plant. This work will require a boil water order beginning at 3 p.m. tomorrow – Thursday, April 1, 2021.
This boil water order will be in effect for several days. If the project goes as planned, Illinois American Water expects to lift the boil water order on Saturday, April 3. Please note, the boil water order remains in effect until customers are notified that it has been lifted.
Until then, customers should bring their water to a rolling boil for 5 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. Water is OK for bathing, washing and other common uses. Customers are being notified about the boil water order via media outreach, customer calls and Illinois American Water website updates at www.illinoisamwater.com. Information is also provided to our customer service center representatives. Notification will be completed in the same manner when the boil water order is lifted or should additional action be required.
Landlords who handle the water service account for their tenants should pass on this information to their tenants.
