Illinois American Water to Repair Water Main Break in Streator; Road Closure Needed for Employee Safety

Streator, Ill. (March 8, 2022) – Tomorrow, Illinois American Water will be completing repairs on a water main break in Streator. This work involves repairing a water main break on South Route 23, also known as S. Park Street, and Lundy Street. Traffic will be rerouted around the work site starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, for employee safety.

Both lanes of Route 23 and Lundy Street will be closed for approximately 6 hours. Motorists should use caution when driving in the area and obey traffic signs, detour routes and flaggers in the area. Motorists should avoid the area.

“We appreciate the community’s cooperation as we complete this critical work,” said Holly Wheeler, operations superintendent. “Our team will work as quickly and as safely as possible to make repairs and reopen the roadway.”

Water customers impacted by this work have been notified. Should something unexpected occur, Illinois American Water will reach out to customers with critical information. The Company is coordinating the work with IDOT and the City of Streator.
