Planned Water System Maintenance Requires Boil Water Order in Village of Glasford; Work to Begin on July 21

Glasford, Ill. (July 17, 2020) – Next week, Illinois American Water will perform critical maintenance at its Glasford Water Treatment Plant. The work, which involves replacing a valve and filter media, will result in a systemwide boil water order for Village of Glasford customers beginning at 9 AM on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. Customers may also experience a temporary interruption to their water service and/or low water pressure.

Village of Glasford customers should bring their water to a rolling boil for 5 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. Water can be used for bathing, washing and other common uses.

This boil water order is being issued in accordance with Illinois EPA regulations as the maintenance will interrupt water pressure. Anytime water pressure drops below 20 pounds per square inch in any part of a community’s distribution system, a boil water order must be issued as a precaution to protect customers.

Village of Glasford customers should take measures to prepare for this temporary impact to their water service. Customers are being notified in advance of this work and the related boil water order via media outreach, website updates at www.illinoisamwater.com and Illinois American Water’s customer notification system which contacts customers via phone, phone and text, or email based on customer preferences.

Notification will be provided in the same manners when the boil water order is lifted, or if additional action is needed. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the boil water order is expected to be lifted on Thursday, July 23, 2020.
