
Indiana American Water Completes a New 1.5 Million Gallon Elevated Water Tank in West Lafayette
Greenwood, Indiana (January 21, 2025) Indiana American Water is proud to announce the completion of a new 1.5-million-gallon (MG) elevated water tank in West Lafayette, a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance its water infrastructure and ensure a reliable water supply for residents and businesses in the western portion of Indiana American Water’s distribution system.
Standing at nearly 150 feet tall, this new concrete pedestal and steel water tank, located near Klondike Road and Cumberland Avenue, stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to providing high-quality water services and continued investment in West Lafayette. The new tank, which will not only increase water storage capacity, but also improve water pressure and fire protection capabilities across the community.
Indiana American Water engineering project manager, Mike Seals, stated, "This new water tank is a crucial investment in West Lafayette. It will support West Lafayette’s growth and provide a more resilient water supply system. We are dedicated to ensuring that our customers have access to reliable and sustainable water."
The new tank required water distribution system improvements, which included installation of over 2,400 feet of 16- and 12-inch watermains. This project represents an $8.2 million investment in the community.
The construction of the elevated water tank and system improvements was completed on schedule and within budget, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the City of West Lafayette, Indiana American Water’s contractors: Landmark Tank, Plant Brothers and Rex Construction, along with DLZ for engineering site design.
The project was funded through customers’ rates statewide, and part of Indiana American Water’s ongoing commitment to support for infrastructure improvements at both the local and state levels.
