Indiana American Water Northwest Operations Completes a New 1.5 million Gallon Elevated Water Tank in Winfield
Winfield, Ind. – April 10, 2025 – Indiana American Water is proud to announce it will be installing a new 1.5-million-gallon (MG) elevated water tank in Winfield later this month. This project represents another significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance its water infrastructure and ensure a reliable water supply for residents and businesses in the company’s Northwest Indiana water distribution system.
Standing nearly 150 feet tall, this new concrete pedestal and steel water tank is located near East 117th Avenue and Randolph Street. The new tank will increase water storage capacity, improve water pressure, and enhance fire protection capabilities across the community. On the west side of the tank, residents will see the Town of Winfield’s emblem, and the east view will display Indiana American Water’s brand.
Indiana American Water engineering project manager, Albert Turner, said, "This new water tank is a crucial investment in Winfield. It will support the community’s growth and provide customers with more access to safe, clean, and reliable water."
The new tank and required water distribution system improvements represent an $8.6 million investment in Winfield. The construction of the elevated water tank and system improvements was completed on schedule and within budget, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Town of Winfield, Lake County, and Indiana American Water’s contractors: Caldwell Tanks, Tank Industry Consultants, Rex Construction, Engineering Fluid Inc., and Orbital for engineering site designs.
The project was funded through customers’ rates statewide and is part of Indiana American Water’s ongoing commitment to support infrastructure improvements at both the local and state levels.
Indiana American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest regulated water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and wastewater services to approximately 1.4 million people.
