Friends of the Parks in Fayette County – Friends of Jacobson Park: Native tree installation for water quality improvement and habitat restoration at Jacobson Park.
“With the American Water Charitable Foundation’s 2025 Water and Environment Grant Award, the dream of adding 104 large native trees to Jacobson Park will become a reality for the Friends of Jacobson Park,” said Katie Lindeman, president of Friends of Jacobson Park. “This is a timeless gift to our entire community that will keep on giving well into future generations and change the landscape of the park into the future for the better! We hope that all people and animals will be able to enjoy the oxygen, shade, beauty, habitat and cleaner water that these native trees will provide for our park and surrounding neighborhoods.”

The University of Kentucky Arboretum: Construct Wolf Run Watershed educational boardwalk.
“We’re thrilled that the Arboretum was awarded an American Water Charitable Foundation 2025 Water and Environment grant to construct the Wolf Run Watershed educational boardwalk,” said Scott Smith, director of The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky. “This project will allow for the construction of a 150-foot-long boardwalk and trail network through a section of wetlands in the pollinator habitat that’s in the process of being created at the Arboretum. We’d like to thank our partners, the American Water Charitable Foundation and Kentucky American Water for this transformational grant for the Arboretum.”
Bluegrass Greensource: support for the organization’s Sustainability Summit to bring together community and business leaders to enact change in their own communities.
The Water and Environment grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. “The American Water Charitable Foundation is delighted to partner with eligible nonprofit organizations providing meaningful impact in Kentucky,” said Carrie Williams, president, American Water Charitable Foundation. “Funding for Water and Environment grants supports projects focused on clean water, conservation, environmental education, climate variability, and water-based recreation.”
