Kristina McGee Named Engineering Manager for Maryland American Water and Virginia American Water
Alexandria, Va. (May 31, 2017) – Kristina McGee has been named engineering manager for both Virginia American Water and Maryland American Water. Effective June 5, McGee will be responsible for the engineering projects of both states, including the impoundment construction in Bel Air, Md. and water main replacements.
Most recently, McGee served as senior construction engineer for American Water’s corporate engineering department. Prior to joining corporate engineering 12 years ago, she was an active duty officer with the U.S. Navy Civil Engineering Corps.
In recent years, she has managed large plant construction projects in New York, New Jersey, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. She also updated American Water’s corporate engineering standards and specifications for buried infrastructure, and facilitated numerous value engineering workshops across the enterprise to identify project cost savings.

McGee earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Clemson University. She served as an active duty naval officer from 1993-2005 when she joined American Water. She retired from the Navy in 2015 as a lieutenant commander.
In the Navy, she served as director of facilities for the Naval War College in Rhode Island, and initiated the development of the Navy’s first comprehensive long-range facilities capitalization plan for the college. She also served as the assistant resident officer in charge of construction based in Philadelphia. Later, she served as director of facilities for Navy Region Hawaii where she executed a $110 million modernization program, and led an extensive Navy audit of facilities and infrastructure in Hawaii to identify cost savings.
McGee is a member of the Design-Build Institute of America, the American Water Works Association, Society of American Military Engineers and the Civil Engineering Honor Society Chi Epsilon.
