New Jersey American Water Employee Honored With YWCA Union County’s TWIN Award

CAMDEN, N.J. (SEPT. 16, 2020)New Jersey American Water’s Andrea Castro, Senior Water Quality and Environmental Compliance Specialist, was awarded the YWCA Union County’s Tribute to Women & Industry (TWIN) Award last week during the organization’s virtual ceremony on Thursday night.

“We nominated Andrea for the TWIN Award in recognition of her exceptional performance as a valued and valuable member of our Water Quality and Environmental Compliance team at New Jersey American Water, as well as her profound community engagement and personal philanthropic endeavors,” said Cheryl Norton, President of New Jersey American Water and Chief Environmental Officer for American Water. “We are grateful to the YWCA Union County for recognizing her with this award.”

With nearly 15 years of experience at New Jersey American Water in both the laboratory and customer service, Castro is a leader in her field, providing employees across the company with critical water quality customer communication information. She leverages her knowledge and experience to improve customer service interaction with our enterprise national call center and serves as a mentor for others on the Water Quality team.

Outside her career, Castro devotes her time to community-based organizations including the Garwood Township Green Team and the Education Foundation of Garwood. She has also participated in the Sister2sister Network, a foundation that helps women diagnosed with breast cancer, and has sponsored children in her country of origin, Colombia, to help with their education, school supplies, after school programs and clothing.
