State’s Largest Investor-Owned Water Utility Continues Growth in Long Island

MERRICK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--New York American Water today announced that it has signed an agreement to purchase the Mill Neck Estates Water System in the Village of Mill Neck, NY. The water system acquisition agreement has been forwarded to the New York Public Service Commission for approval. New York American Water will provide the system’s 93 customer accounts with water service. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.

This acquisition continues the expansion of the company’s operations within its historical Nassau County, Long Island base.

“Increasingly stringent environmental regulations coupled with the ongoing need to invest capital into a modern water system creates significant obstacles for small systems with limited resources,” said Brian Bruce, president of New York American Water.

“Our new customers in Mill Neck Estates will benefit from our operational and engineering expertise, as well as our commitment to make the necessary capital investment to ensure water service that meets and routinely surpasses state and federal water standards.”
