New York American Water Announces Annual Emergency Responder Grant Program

Deadline to Apply is March 17, 2021

Merrick, NY (February 17, 2021) – New York American Water is proud to announce its 2021 grant program for volunteer fire departments and emergency responders located in the company’s service area. Every year, this grant funding assists volunteer firefighters and first responders in securing equipment and resources they need to continue to serve our local communities.

“We are proud to provide financial assistance to those who volunteer their time for the safety of our community, which often includes our employees,” said Richard Kern, Senior Manager of Production for New York American Water. “I’ve personally been a volunteer firefighter for more than 37 years and know, firsthand, the importance of training programs and equipment maintenance. It is truly a privilege to extend this opportunity to these dedicated and hard-working individuals.”

Grant funds can be used to cover the costs associated with purchasing personal protective gear, firefighting tools, water handling equipment, communications equipment, training and related activities and materials that will be used to support volunteer firefighter and emergency responder operations (e.g., ambulance and first aid squads). The grant may also be used as reimbursement for specific fire training classes, including the cost of training manuals and student workbooks.
