Pennsylvania American Water Announces $1.1M in Bucks County System Upgrades

Main replacements in Lower Makefield Township will improve water service for customers

Lower Makefield, Pa. (April 28, 2022) – Pennsylvania American Water today announced the start of construction to replace a water main in Bucks County to improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions, and increase water flows for firefighting. The cost of the system improvements, which replace 3,600 feet of main dating back to the 1950s, is $1,100,000.

Starting Monday, May 2nd, Pennsylvania American Water contractors will begin replacing aging 6" cement pipe that was installed in the 1950s with new 8" ductile iron pipe together, new copper water supply services, and meter chambers for our customers in Lower Makefield Township. Crews will work weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction. Work will be completed by the end of June and final paving of the roadway is planned for completion this fall.

  • Maplevale Drive (off Taylorsville Rd)
  • Meadow Drive (between Maplevale Drive)
  • Weinmann Way (between Moyer Road and Serene Lane)

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
