Pennsylvania American Water Announces $1.3 Million West Mifflin Water System Upgrade

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (April 16, 2021) – Pennsylvania American Water announced today the start of construction to replace approximately 1 mile of aging water main in West Mifflin, Allegheny County, to improve service reliability and fire protection for residents. The cost of these system improvements is approximately $1.3 million.

On Monday, April 19, Pennsylvania American Water contractors will start upgrading water mains along Lombardy and Romany Drives. The investment also includes water main replacement projects along Duquesne Avenue, Grant Street, Helena Street, Holiday Drive, Homestead Avenue, and Mary Street.

Crews will work weekdays between 7 a.m., and 5 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction. Company employees and contractors will exercise caution and follow CDC guidance for social distancing and hygiene while performing this work.

For our customers' safety and our employees' safety, we ask that members of the public do not approach our employees or contractors. If you have a question, visit our website or call us at 1-800-565-7292.

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, or lower than usual water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. Once the pipe is installed, a temporary restoration will take place in the excavated area.

Pennsylvania American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest investor-owned water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to approximately 2.4 million people.
