Pennsylvania American Water Announces $1.5 Million Pittsburgh Water System Upgrade

A portion of Wagner Avenue Closed through Aug. 30

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Aug. 20, 2021) – Pennsylvania American Water announced today the start of construction to replace approximately 2,300 feet of aging water main along Wagner Avenue in the City of Pittsburgh to improve service reliability and fire protection for residents. The cost of these system improvements is approximately $1.5 million.

The project, which started this week, involves replacing a 20-inch cast-iron water main, resulting in the closure of Wagner Avenue, between Becks Run Road and Mountain Avenue, through Aug. 30, 2021.

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, or lower than usual water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. Once the pipe is installed, a temporary restoration will take place in the excavated area.

Company employees and contractors will exercise caution and follow CDC guidance for social distancing and hygiene while performing this work. For our customers' safety and our employees' safety, we ask that members of the public do not approach our employees or contractors. If you have a question, visit our website or call us at 1-800-565-7292.
