YORK, Pa. (June 12, 2025) – Yesterday, Pennsylvania American Water presented a $10,000 American Water Charitable Foundation, Water and Environment Grant to the York City Parks Conservancy to support the construction of a new woodland playground and ADA-accessible restrooms in Farquhar Park. The presentation was made following a cleanup effort at the park, led by Pennsylvania American Water employees and community members.
“This contribution is a truly transformational opportunity for Farquhar Park and our city,” said Laura O’Grady, Chairwoman of the York City Parks Conservancy. “The commitment of both time and resources from the American Water Charitable Foundation and Pennsylvania American Water demonstrates the power of collaboration in maintaining and improving public green spaces. We look forward to the lasting impact this new playground and accessible restrooms will have on our visitors.”
At the event, volunteers came together to remove trash from the historic Farquhar Park, helping to prepare it for the upcoming summer season. “This investment in York will help create a play space that can be enjoyed by all children,” said Carrie Williams, president of the American Water Charitable Foundation. “We are proud to partner with the York City Parks Conservancy to make their vision a reality, and we extend our gratitude to all the volunteers who dedicated their time to help rejuvenate the park.”
The funding was provided through the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, which focuses on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. In total, 16 nonprofits across Pennsylvania received 2025 Water and Environment grants totaling $180,000.
