West Virginia American Water Invests $295,000 in Oak Hill Infrastructure
Oak Hill, W.Va., (June 19, 2025) – West Virginia American Water is pleased to announce a $295,000 infrastructure upgrade project in Oak Hill. The project began the week of June 9th and includes replacing 1800 feet of aging water main with 6-inch and 2-inch PVC on Dickerson Street.
“We are excited to announce this infrastructure upgrade project in Oak Hill,” said Scott Wyman, President of West Virginia American Water. “These investments are essential for maintaining sound infrastructure for our customers in order to improve service reliability, reduce service disruptions and maintain and improve water quality.”
Crews will work Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with traffic restrictions in place. This project is on Dickerson Street, from Summerlee Road to the end of Dickerson Street, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of July. The final street restoration will be completed in the fall of 2025.
This infrastructure upgrade project is part of West Virginia American Water’s plan to invest more than $112 million in infrastructure upgrades across the state in 2025, supporting the economic health of communities across the company’s service area. Economic impact studies show that for every $1 million invested in water infrastructure, upwards of 15 jobs are generated throughout local economies.
Over the past decade, West Virginia American Water has invested over $736 million in infrastructure projects and capital upgrades to address aging infrastructure across the Mountain State, including more than 168 miles of new water main. During construction, customers may experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. To report water related emergencies such as leaks, main breaks or other service disruptions, customers can submit a service request on the company’s website.
