West Virginia American Water Invests $395,000 in Bluefield Infrastructure
Bluefield, W.Va., (July 3rd, 2025) – West Virginia American Water is pleased to announce a $395,000 infrastructure upgrade project in Bluefield. The project began the week of June 23rd and includes replacing 800 feet of aging water main with 12-inch PVC on Reservoir Street.
“Investing in our system is critical to maintaining sound infrastructure across our systems,” said Scott Wyman, President of West Virginia American Water. “We are pleased to announce this infrastructure project in Bluefield, as it will help reduce service disruptions for our customers and allow us to continue providing safe, clean, and reliable water.”
This project will take place on Reservoir Street from the intersection of Wheeling Avenue and S Spring Street to the end of Reservoir Street. Crews will work Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with traffic restrictions in place. This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of July, and the final street restoration will be completed in the summer of 2025.
This infrastructure upgrade project is part of West Virginia American Water’s plan to invest more than $112 million in infrastructure upgrades across the state in 2025, supporting the economic health of communities across the company’s service area. Economic impact studies show that for every $1 million invested in water infrastructure, upwards of 15 jobs are generated throughout local economies.
Over the past decade, West Virginia American Water has invested over $736 million in infrastructure projects and capital upgrades to address aging infrastructure across the Mountain State, including more than 168 miles of new water main.
