Missouri American Water name being used in check-cashing scam

Missouri American Water has become aware that its name is being used in conjunction with an illegal check-cashing scam preying on customers and non-customers alike, nationwide. We are working with federal law enforcement to investigate the scam. Customers who receive an UNEXPECTED check SHOULD NOT CASH IT and instead report the incident to local law enforcement and/or postal inspector.
