Project Overview

New Jersey American Water is preparing to replace approximately 800 feet of aging 36-inch cast iron transmission water main that was installed in the 1970s with new 36-inch ductile iron main along Newman Springs Road (from Auto Exotica to Broad Street) and Rumson Place (from Broad Street to West Lake Road). The project represents a critical investment for the company in support of our commitment to provide customers with safe, reliable water service.

Project Start/ End and Work Hours

Weather permitting, our local, qualified contractor, J. F. Creamer & Son, Inc. is scheduled to mobilize on or about March 20 with construction to begin on or about March 27. Work will take place during normal daytime hours with some night work expected to maintain project schedule, and all work is expected to be completed within approximately two months.

On or about Monday, April 10, 2023, work hours will shift to a 24/7 operation while the water main is being installed beneath the NJ Transit Railway and NJDOT Route 35. Work hours will revert to normal daytime hours on or about April 19. Final street restorations will be completed in fall of 2023.
