Kentucky American Water and American Water Charitable Foundation Announce Workforce Readiness Grant Recipient

Community Action Council Awarded $10,000

The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, recently awarded a 2022 Workforce Readiness Grant to Community Action Council for Lexington-Fayette, Bourbon, Harrison and Nicholas Counties, Inc., for the organization’s Commercial Driver’s License training program.

“We are pleased that the American Water Charitable Foundation has selected Community Action Council to help strengthen our community by providing workforce training,” said Kentucky American Water President Kathryn Nash. “Our company has enjoyed a variety of partnerships with their team over the years and we look forward to additional collaborations in the future.”


The Workforce Readiness grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. 

“This grant award from the American Water Charitable Foundation will help us further our mission of ending poverty in our communities,” said Community Action Council Executive Director Sharon Price. “With their contribution, we will be able to help even more people earn a CDL and obtain employment in the high-demand field of transportation this year. Our thanks to the American Water Charitable Foundation and Kentucky American Water for their support. We look forward to working together to ensure a vibrant community.”
