Kentucky American Water Announces 2022 Water Quality Reports Now Available

Water supplied to customers continues to meet or surpass state and federal quality standards; treatment plants earn awards for performance

As water utilities across the country recognize National Drinking Water Week, observed May 7 through May 13, Kentucky American Water has announced that the 2022 Water Quality Reports for Kentucky American Water’s service areas are now available and continue to indicate that the company provides exceptional quality tap water to customers.

The reports, also referred to as Consumer Confidence Reports, are published annually each spring with data pertaining to the previous calendar year. They are available on Kentucky American Water’s website at www.kentuckyamwater.com via the Water Quality link and searchable by customer zip code.

The Water Quality Report is an annual performance measure of the quality of water supplied by Kentucky American Water in comparison to the compliance standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Kentucky’s Division of Water. Each report describes drinking water sources, water tests conducted, substances detected in water and the levels of those substances. In addition to viewing reports online, customers may also request a hard copy by contacting the company at 1-800-678-6301.

“We are pleased to report that the quality of water supplied to our customers continues to meet or surpass what is required by state and federal drinking water standards,” said Andy Lewis, vice president of operations for Kentucky American Water. “We encourage customers to review the reports for their respective areas so that they can become familiar with what our teams do on a daily basis to provide high-quality tap water.”

The company’s water quality professionals perform thousands of tests every year – in water treatment plants as well as out in the distribution system – to measure the quality of tap water delivered to customers. These tests include those that are mandatory for all U.S. water utilities as well as additional tests that are conducted voluntarily to strive for water that not only meets but surpasses the standards required by law.

These additional tests stem from Kentucky American Water’s proud and voluntary participation in the national Partnership for Safe Water, an effort coordinated by six drinking water organizations, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the American Water Works Association. Partnership participants adhere to more stringent monitoring and testing practices.

All three of the company’s water treatment plants will be honored for their participation in the Partnership for Safe Water next month in Toronto, Canada, at ACE23, an international water industry conference presented by the American Water Works Association and attended by water professionals from around the world. Kentucky American Water’s Kentucky River Station 1 and Richmond Road Station water treatment plants will each receive the 25 Year Directors Award. The company’s newest plant, the Kentucky River Station II at Hardin’s Landing, will receive the 5 Year Directors Award.

Kentucky American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest investor-owned water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and wastewater services to approximately half a million people.
