Kentucky American Water Crews Repairing Main Break on Leestown Road

Motorists advised to select alternate route, if possible

LEXINGTON, Ky., (Aug. 16, 2021) 11:00 p.m. – Kentucky American Water crews are currently working to repair an 8-inch-diameter water main in Lexington on Leestown Road near Lisle Industrial Avenue that broke earlier this evening.  Crews responded to the break quickly and will likely be on site conducting repairs into the morning hours.

In-bound traffic on Leestown Road in the area of the break has been diverted into the middle lane for the safety of crews and motorists, but if motorists are able to select another route to their destination they are encouraged to do so. If motorists must travel through the area they are encouraged to reduce their speed and use extra caution to keep themselves, other motorists and the repair crews safe.

Approximately 30 customers’ water service is impacted at this time as a result of the water main break. Motorists traveling through this area of Leestown Road during morning rush hour on Tuesday, Aug. 17, should prepare for the possibility of some traffic impact in case repair crews are still on the scene.
