NEW JERSEY AMERICAN WATER BREAKS GROUND ON NEW OPERATIONS CENTER IN LAWNSIDE

New Facility Will Bring 85 Employees to Borough, Provide More Centralized Operations for Customers in Southwest Operating Region

LAWNSIDE, N.J. – SEPT. 29, 2021 - Joined by Board of Public Utilities Commissioners Mary-Anna Holden and Upendra Chivukula, and Lawnside Mayor Mary Ann Wardlow, New Jersey American Water today broke ground on its new Operations Center in Lawnside. Serving the company’s Southwest region, the Lawnside Operations Center will bring 85 employees to Lawnside with the possibility of growing by upwards of 20 percent in the future. The company’s Southwest Operations region services approximately 400,000 people in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties.

“Lawnside is the perfect location for us to house our operations center,” said New Jersey American Water President Mark McDonough. “By being more centrally located to our southern New Jersey customer base, we will be able to provide services and respond even quicker to their needs. We look forward to being a community partner with Lawnside as we continue to grow our workforce and provide high quality water and wastewater services in the state.”

The Lawnside Operations Center will consist of approximately 19,780 square feet of office and administrative space and approximately 28,925 feet of garage and warehouse space. The facility is expected to be completed by November 2022. Once completed, New Jersey American Water will be contributing approximately $800,000 annually in property taxes to the borough.

Lawnside has been receiving water service from New Jersey American Water and its predecessors since 1897.
