New York American Water Announces Six Recipients of Emergency Responder Grant

Merrick, NY (April 20, 2021)—New York American Water is proud to announce six recipients of its 2021 grant program for volunteer fire departments and emergency responders located in the company’s service territory. Grant funds will be awarded to the Baldwin Fire District, Village of East Rockaway Fire Department, Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department, South Hempstead Fire Department, Merrick Fire Department and Sea Cliff Fire Department.

The grant funding will support these local fire departments and be used to acquire equipment, training and materials needed to ensure their success and safety. The company is providing six grants for a total of $8,338 to these departments.

“Support for our first responders is important, especially as we begin to recover from the pandemic, and we are proud to award our grants to these fire departments,” said Richard Kern, New York American Water’s Senior Production Manager. “As a volunteer firefighter for more than 38 years, I know how important quality equipment and training are to executing the job safely.
