New York American Water Replacing Aging Water Main in Valley Stream
Valley Stream, NY (May 26, 2020) – New York American Water is investing $220,000 to install new water main in Valley Stream. The project, starting today, will replace 850 feet of aging water main with new 6- and 8-inch ductile iron main. The project will also replace 22 utility-owned service lines.
“New York American Water continues to make infrastructure investment a priority,” said New York American Water Director of Engineering John Kilpatrick. “Water main replacement plays a significant role in improving water quality for our customers and we continue to prioritize aging water mains for replacement.”
This main replacement project will take place along Princeton Street from Broadway to West End Avenue and Laurel Place from Princeton Street to the dead end. Work is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete. Final street restoration will be completed as part of a Village of Valley Stream road construction project.
Work will take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Residents should note that sections of the street where construction is taking place may be closed to traffic during these working hours.
