Pennsylvania American Water Announces $600,000 Exeter Township Water Line Extension

Exeter Township, Pa. (Aug 28, 2023) – Pennsylvania American Water will begin construction to install 2,900 feet of new water main in Exeter Township, Berks County. This $600,000 project will extend public water service to residents on East Loraine Road and Neversink Street. This project will also connect two portions of the system, which benefits a large portion of Exeter Township by providing better water quality and new fire protection to approximately 50 premises.

Crews will work weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction on East Loraine Road (from Painted Sky Road to the Antietam Creek Crossing) and Neversink Street (from East Loraine Road to Willow Street). The company expects to complete the water main installation by the end of October, with final street restoration taking place in late fall or winter of 2023.

During construction, Pennsylvania American Water will work with interested residents to determine the location of the water service connection and meter pit on their property. Once the main is installed, Pennsylvania American Water will return to connect any new customers who wish to have public water service. Pennsylvania American Water does not charge a tap-in fee to connect to its water system. Each participating resident is responsible for costs related to installing and maintaining their service line and plumbing on their property.
