Water Utility Earns 15-Year Directors Award through the Partnership for Safe Water

Tennessee American Water announced today that the company’s 2014 Consumer Confidence Reports (Water Quality Reports) are now available to customers online.

The annual water quality report, or consumer confidence report, is a performance measure of the quality of water supplied by Tennessee American Water against the compliance standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. The report describes local drinking water sources, testing conducted on the water, substances detected, and the levels of those substances.

Messages included on water bills provide customers with an URL address to access their service area’s specific water quality report. The URL addresses for Tennessee American Water’s service areas are as follows:

In addition to making customers aware of the availability of the 2014 Water Quality Reports, Tennessee American Water is proud to announce that it has earned the 15-Year Directors Award through the Partnership for Safe Water. The Partnership is a voluntary utility program with the mission of improving drinking water quality by optimizing operations.

The Partnership for Safe Water’s 15-Year Directors Award recognizes water treatment plants for maintaining Directors Award status within the program for a period of 15 years. The Directors Award is originally achieved by completing a comprehensive self-assessment of treatment plant operations, and program status is maintained by submitting annual reports to the Partnership for a 15 year period.

In the state of Tennessee, nine utilities participate in the Partnership’s treatment plant optimization program and three have achieved the Directors Award in 2015. Across the U.S., about 400 utilities participate in the Partnership and a total of 48 plants will be receiving the 15- Year Directors Award this year.

“We are committed to the highest standards for water quality to our customers. We take water quality very seriously and demonstrate this through participation in the Partnership for Safe Water which exceeds the requirements of the state and federal drinking water standards,” said Tennessee American Water President Deron Allen.

Printed copies of the report for customers who would rather receive a copy in the mail rather than online or who do not have access online are available. Customers may call the company’s customer service center at 1-866-736-6420 and request a copy of their local district’s report or by emailing presidentallen@amwater.com and it will be mailed to them.
