West Virginia American Water Announces Remote Job Opportunities for Charleston and Surrounding Areas

Charleston, W.Va. (Apr. 25, 2022) – West Virginia American Water and its parent company, American Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, announced today it will offer 25 fully remote, customer service job opportunities for residents of Charleston and its surrounding communities.

“By bringing remote customer service job opportunities to the Mountain State, West Virginia American Water is continuing to invest in our communities while building on our award-winning customer service organization,” said Robert Burton, president of West Virginia American Water. “Our responsibility to customers and the communities we serve goes beyond the delivery of safe, reliable water and wastewater service – it also includes helping to make communities better because we are there, and this is a perfect example of that commitment.”

The entry-level, work-from-home Customer Care Agent (CCA) positions will be open to individuals that live in Charleston or within a two-hour driving distance of the city. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to address service needs for West Virginia American Water customers, as well as all customers within American Water’s regulated footprint. West Virginia is the third American Water state to offer fully remote CCA positions with other opportunities located in Camden, New Jersey and Gary, Indiana. American Water also maintains two customer service centers in Alton, Illinois and Pensacola, Florida.

“The addition of 25 remote customer service positions means new opportunities for folks in the Charleston area,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “It’s great to see companies, like West Virginia American Water, providing job seekers with more flexible employment options.”

“This is tremendous news, and I would like to personally thank West Virginia American Water and President Robert Burton,” said Kent Carper, president of the Kanawha County Commission. “This shows great respect for the customers and community, alike!”
