West Virginia American Water Concludes Emergency Response Communication in Huntington; No Drinking Water Advisories in Effect

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Feb. 19, 2023) – West Virginia American Water announced today that it will conclude its emergency response communication in Huntington following the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.

Water quality testing indicates that all water leaving the Huntington Water Treatment Plant continues to meet state and federal drinking water guidelines as established by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ Bureau for Public Health (BPH) and the U.S. EPA. All testing results for chemicals from the spill have shown non-detect over the last 48 hours based on ORSANCO’s testing methodology at the company’s Ohio River intake. There are no drinking water advisories in effect as a result of this event.

West Virginia American Water remains in close communication with ORSANCO regarding water quality sampling data. Visit the ORSANCO website for the latest testing information.
