Eureka Pipeline Project

Overview

Missouri American Water is building a new pipeline that will connect the drinking water system in Eureka to the system that serves the rest of our customers in St. Louis County. The pipeline will be approximately 6 miles long, extending south from Wildwood to the northern part of Eureka. Construction of the pipeline began in fall 2022 and is expected to take 18-24 months. The project will be completed in three phases.

Project Update (as of February 2024)

Phase 1 – Completed – Phase 1 consisted of 1.3 miles from Wildwood extending south to Highway 109 and Old State Road. Construction of this phase is complete.

Phase 2 & 3: In Construction - Phase 2 consists of nearly 3 miles from Highway 109 and Old State Road to Eureka High School, running south near the Meramec River. Phase 3 consists of nearly 2 miles from Eureka High School into Eureka, connecting near the Hilltop Village Shopping Center and near Drewel Park. The entire project is expected to be completed and online in Q3 2024.

Background

Eureka’s drinking water is currently supplied by local groundwater wells. The new pipeline will connect Eureka to surface water supplied from the Missouri River and processed at Missouri American Water’s Central Plant in Maryland Heights.
